Your diamond tools like diamond core bit aren’t the only things you must prepare if you are working on a home improvement project. Even the clothes that you wear have something to do with it.

Wearing the right clothing is also important for safety purposes. Don’t worry, we won’t be mixing and matching designer clothes here. We’ll have none of that.

Like I said, we need to have the right type of clothes when doing some woodwork or any type of construction project to observe safety.

Tips on Choosing Proper Construction Attire

  • Don’t wear loose clothing.

When doing construction, never wear loose clothing as they may get caught into any machine. Keep in mind that many construction injuries stem from this. Obviously it can cause a whole lot of trouble as you continue with your job.

Be sure, too, that the clothes you’re wearing cover your skin especially if you are working under the sun. If you want, you can buy one of those arm and leg warmers if they make you feel more comfortable when working. A woodworker’s apron should also be comfortable and relevant.
  • When doing some wood turning, don’t just wear what is comfortable for you.

I mean, sure it makes you feel easier to move. But wearing a shirt and shorts may not be good for the job as falling debris and other elements can contact with your skin and may cause you unimaginable problems in the future. For this type of work, the best attire is a long-sleeved shirt coupled with long pants.

Notice how I am putting an emphasis on the skin. Not only is the skin most open to different kinds of dust particles, it is also quite overlooked by construction workers. Perhaps most of them feel that because it comes with the territory anyway so it shouldn’t be much of a concern.
  • Safety should be of utmost concern.

Keep in mind that while you feel most comfortable wearing a shirt, you have to learn that you’d be a lot safer when wearing a long-sleeved shirt. Wearing loose shirt is even worse so please, try to dress appropriately.

Do a little research and you’ll find that there are actually statistics that prove many an accident have happened at work sites where the workers don’t wear appropriate clothing. The lives you may save may not just be your own but also of those around you.

Hey more tips to come so please keep to this blog. Until then, you all be safe at the work place!
